About Us

MK Electric & Design Inc. was founded by Mark Kirkes. 


In 1974, Mark Kirkes began his career in the electrical field and over 40 years later he is still in the game. Mark’s extensive experience ranges from laborer/assistant to journeyman electrician to President of Kirkes Electric.

In 1993, while with Kirkes Electric, Mark was fortunate to have the opportunity to expand Kirkes breadth of expertise in the electrical field. He developed and implemented a full-service design team. Allowing his clients to design-build their projects; from concept to final product in one stop. This move created an opportunity for the expansion and growth of his second-generation family business. 

The success of the design-build department earned Mark his next promotion to Vice President of the company. Upon the retirement of Kirkes Electric’s President, Mark was promoted to President of the company. 

Mark worked for his family business for over 30 years, from the bottom up, before opening his own design company: MK Electric & Design Inc. 

Fully focused on the future and knowing that the electrical industry is rapidly changing, Mark became LEED accredited and has increased his focus on energy efficiency. Consultation on energy efficiency measures, LED lighting and other innovative technologies are all part of the MK Electric & Design Inc. experience. 

This website has examples of completed projects, which were finished while Mark was president of his previous employer, Kirkes Electric, as well projects designed and completed by his current company, MK Electric & Design Inc.
